Freshers' Party for the juniors was held in the General Hall 1 on Wednesday afternoon, 13th September. All teachers and students participated in it. In this event all the first-year students introduced themselves and small games were planned for them. Everyone enjoyed it. We got an opportunity to know our juniors better and it helped to strengthen our bonds.

Every year November 25 is celebrated as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The students and teachers of GCTE witnesssed the inauguration of women's cell and celebrated this day by organising some programs in the Research room. This day marked the the launch of the UNiTE campaign (Nov 25- Dec 10) — an initiative of 16 days of activism concluding on the day that commemorates the International Human Rights Day (10 December). This campaign, led by the UN Secretary-General and UN Women since 2008, aims to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls around the world, calling for global action to increase awareness, promote advocacy and create opportunities for discussion on challenges and solutions. On the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the colour orange is used to represent a brighter future, free from violence against women and girls. MERIT DAY 2024

Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, organized a Merit Day event on March 26, 2024, to celebrate academic achievements and recognize excellence among its students and faculty members. During this event, students who demonstrated outstanding academic performance were appreciated for their dedication and hard work. Additionally, teachers who attained a Ph.D. were acknowledged for their scholarly contributions and commitment to higher education. Moreover, students who excelled in extracurricular activities such as sports and arts were also recognized and applauded for their talents and achievements. This was the first merit day after Covid and hence the students of three batches gathered for the event. FIELD VISIT (SEMESTER 2)

As part of the B.Ed curriculum, the second year B.Ed students of GCTE went for a field trip on 26 September 2023. This field trip was included in the community based practical programme of the second semester syllabus. The purpose of the field trip is usually for observation for education, non-experimental research or to provide students with experiences outside their everyday activities. The department of English, Hindi, Tamil, Social Science and Sanskrit decided to go to Neyyar Dam, Kottoor Elephant Rehabilitation Centre and Koyikal palace. Jayakrishna teacher of Hindi department, Kumar sir of Tamil department and Shaiba teacher of Sanskrit department and Santhosh sir of social science department accompanied us.
