MERIT DAY 2024

Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, organized a Merit Day event on March 26, 2024, to celebrate academic achievements and recognize excellence among its students and faculty members. During this event, students who demonstrated outstanding academic performance were appreciated for their dedication and hard work. Additionally, teachers who attained a Ph.D. were acknowledged for their scholarly contributions and commitment to higher education. Moreover, students who excelled in extracurricular activities such as sports and arts were also recognized and applauded for their talents and achievements. This was the first merit day after Covid and hence the students of three batches gathered for the event. Participating in the Merit Day event was considered a privilege as it provided an opportunity to honor and celebrate the collective success and excellence within the college community. It served as a motivating and inspiring occasion for all attendees to strive for excellence in their respective fields and contribute positively to the academic and cultural fabric of the institution.




The program began with the welcome speech rendered by Praveen Kumar and Keerthana Anil delivered an informative speech about merit day. The principal of the college Sujith Sir did the presidential address. The merit day 2024 was officially inaugurated by Dr. Santhosh Kumar sir. Felicitations were given by Omansheelan sir, Valsala teacher and Joly teacher. the programme came to end with Revathy B R rendering the vote of thanks. I was also happy as I got the prizes of the inter class competitions.

As part of the B.Ed curriculum, the second year B.Ed students of GCTE went for a field trip on 26 September 2023. This field trip was included in the community based practical programme of the second semester syllabus. The purpose of the field trip is usually for observation for education, non-experimental research or to provide students with experiences outside their everyday activities. The department of English, Hindi, Tamil, Social Science and Sanskrit decided to go to Neyyar Dam, Kottoor Elephant Rehabilitation Centre and Koyikal palace. Going in an unpredictable way, this world cup drags the football lovers all over the world on the brink of suspense by offering breathtaking performances. Whole world is celebrating this world cup by organising various activities. As part of celebrating the world cup the Physical Education department of GCTE organised a Prediction C ontest on 25 November 2022 . All teaching and non teaching staffs, students of first and second year B.Ed actively participated in the contest.  Participants were asked to predict the four semi finalist teams, two finalist teams and the winning team of Qatar 2022 World cup. On January 25, National Voters Day is observed to commemorate the founding day of the Election Commission of India, which was created in 1950. The first National Voters Day was observed on January 25, 2011, and ever since then, it has been observed on January 25 with a particular theme. This year will mark the 12th annual National Voters’ Day in 2023.  The National Voters Day 2023 celebration is done by the Indian government as a way to inspire young people to get involved in politics.
