Pride Month Celebration (Association Program)

Pride Month is celebrated every June. Pride Month is largely credited as being started by bisexual activist Brenda Howard. Known as ‘The Mother of Pride,’ Brenda organized Gay Pride Week and the Christopher Street Liberation Day Parade. Speaking of the rainbow flag, it was actually gay politician Harvey Milk who asked a talented designer friend, Gilbert Baker, to design an all-encompassing symbol to take to San Francisco’s Pride March in 1978. Bill Clinton was the first U.S. President to officially recognize Pride Month in 1999 and 2000. Then, from 2009 to 2016, Barack Obama declared June LGBT Pride Month. In May 2019, Donald Trump recognized Pride Month with a tweet announcing that his administration had launched a global campaign to decriminalize homosexuality, although critics have noted that actions speak louder than words. Pride Month is for everyone to embrace who they are and let the world know — in style! The rainbow aptly signifies the colorful activities and flavors of this month-long celebration. These include massive rallies, pride parades, parties, workshops, concerts, and countless more LGBTQ+ events to attract participants from all over. The Pride community takes huge pride in their movement, going all out for the festivities with elaborate costumes, makeup, and, of course, glitter — so that they sparkle for the whole world to see! Campaigns and rallies aim to promote and preserve the history and well-being of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community.




The women's cell and department of English of Govt. College of Teacher Education conducted the assembly in the morning on 22 June 2023 and presented the importance of celebrating pride month. Kavya Dinesh (I B.Ed. English) hosted the assembly. Assembly began with Ms. Jessy of first B.Ed English singing the prayer song. Ms. Bhagya did the theme presentation and it was followed by a speech by Bushra on the need significance and importance of celebrating this day in the modern day.

As part of the B.Ed curriculum, the second year B.Ed students of GCTE went for a field trip on 26 September 2023. This field trip was included in the community based practical programme of the second semester syllabus. The purpose of the field trip is usually for observation for education, non-experimental research or to provide students with experiences outside their everyday activities. The department of English, Hindi, Tamil, Social Science and Sanskrit decided to go to Neyyar Dam, Kottoor Elephant Rehabilitation Centre and Koyikal palace. The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 is played from 20 November to 18 December. 32 teams compete across 64 matches in the 22nd edition of the world cup. Going in an unpredictable way, this world cup drags the football lovers all over the world on the brink of suspense by offering breathtaking performances. Whole world is celebrating this world cup by organising various activities. As part of celebrating the world cup the Physical Education department of GCTE organised a Prediction C ontest on 25 November 2022 . All teaching and non teaching staffs, students of first and second year B.Ed actively participated in the contest.  Participants were asked to predict the four semi finalist teams, two finalist teams and the winning team of Qatar 2022 World cup. On January 25, National Voters Day is observed to commemorate the founding day of the Election Commission of India, which was created in 1950. The first National Voters Day was observed on January 25, 2011, and ever since then, it has been observed on January 25 with a particular theme. This year will mark the 12th annual National Voters’ Day in 2023.  The National Voters Day 2023 celebration is done by the Indian government as a way to inspire young people to get involved in politics. Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible, and Participative is the focus of National Voters Day 2023 Theme.
