SPORTS DAY
As part of B.Ed. curriculum, Govt. College of Teacher Education, Thycaud organized its annual athletic meet on 17 February 2023 at the University Stadium, Palayam. All athletes were asked to assemble at the stadium at 8:15 am. The entire college was divided into four houses. First B.Ed students were given the Red house with Jessy as the house captain and Rakendu as the vice captain. Second B.Ed students were led by Jenifa, the house Captain and Abhijith as the vice captain of the Yellow house. The first M.Ed students represented the Blue house and was led by as the house captain Naseema and Birgil as the Vice captain. Under the captainship of Limna Lal the second M.Ed students formed the green house with Nivetha as the Vice Captain.
The first event on the track was 400m Race walk for girls which was followed by the official inauguration of the sports meet. Second year M.Ed student Vishnu's commentary added more life to the event. House Captains led the march past in which all students participated with full vigour and zeal. After receiving the salute of the chief guest, Prof. Dr. Raziya, the Director of Physical Education, University of Kerala, the official welcoming was done by Praveen Kumar, the chairman of college union. The key note address was delivered by Dr. V. K. Santhosh Kumar, the Principal. The chief guest Raziya madam inaugurated the Sports meet by hoisting the college flag and she declared the meet open. A small inaugural address was also given which motivated the students.
Ms. Jessy. M spearheaded the oath taking ceremony. The Vice principal Dr. Joly delivered the felicitation and the vote of thanks was done by College sports secretary Ajmal Roshan. The march past was then dispered and other track and field events were conducted by under the guidence of the officials. The events were 100m, 200m, 400m, Long jumb, standing broad jumb, shot put, javelin throw and relay. There were some other physical education trainers to help and support Rosh Kumar sir. Various committees were organised beforehand. Refreshment committee, judges committee, certificate committee and so on. Eveyone worked effeciently which led to the success of the sports meet. Some real instances of sports man spirit were seen at the meet. Injured people participating and winning prizes and showing empathy with the injured winners at the victory stand were all commendable. Our team won gold medal in the mixed relay. Second B.Ed students "the Blue house" led by Jenifa won the overall in the meet and "The Red House", the first B.Ed students led by Jessy secured the second position. The closing of the meet was around 3 pm.
