74th REPUBLIC DAY

Republic Day marks the adoption of India's constitution and the country's transition to a republic on January 26, 1950. Every year, the celebrations marking the day feature spectacular military and cultural pageantry. In New Delhi, armed forces personnel march along the Kartavya path in an elaborate display of military might.

Government College of Teacher Education, Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram, observed the 74th Republic Day in the college. As per the instructions given, the students and teachers assembled in the college frontyard by 8 am. The program began with the welcome speech delivered by the college union chairman Praveen Kumar. Dr. V K Santhosh Kumar Sir, the Principal of GCTE, hoisted the National Flag and delivered the Republic day message. This was followed by the Vice Principal, Dr. Jolly S' felicitation. Srinath of II M.Ed then extended the vote of thanks.

After the ceremony, the students of I B.Ed presented a patriotic fusion song. All the students sang along with them. Sweets were then distributed to all the students, teachers and the non teaching staffs. We then took pictures with Principal and our fellow classmates. It was a beautiful day indeed for all GCTEians. The celebrations of the 74th Republic Day aimed to strengthen India’s Republic and Democratic values.
