This event also helped to foster team spirit among the students.
The National Mathematics Day is celebrated on 22 December since 2012 in India. On 21st December 2022, the Mathematics Day commemoration was held in our college. The Programme was anchored by Aswathy. Sruthy and Mahima sang a melodious song for Prayer. Keerthana evinced the background details regarding National Mathematics Day and gave a brief yet engaging profile on the Indian Mathematician Ramanuja.
Born on December 22, 1887, Srinivasa Ramanujan was a legendary mathematician whose contributions to the field led to resolution of many unsolved theorems. His birthday is celebrated as National Mathematics Day. He was born in 1887 in Erode, Tamil Nadu in a humble Iyengar Brahmin family. During his short but impactful lifespan, Ramanujan worked on theories that seemed impossible to solve. On May 2, 1918, he became a fellow of the Royal Society in London, one of youngest people to receive such an honour. Ramanujan died on April 26, 1920 at the age of 32. In the year 2012 Indian stamp featured Srinivasa Ramanujan. It was the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh who declared 22nd December as Mathematics Day, on 26 December 2011 at Madras University, to mark the 125th birth anniversary of the Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. On this occasion Prime minister Manmohan Singh also announced that 2012 would be celebrated as the National Mathematics Year. There is no theme for National Mathematics Day 2022. The day is celebrated with the aim of making people aware of the importance of mathematics and advancements and developments made in the field. Following Keerthana's speech on Ramanujan, the prizes for Triangle Tributes Competition were distributed by Dr. Joly ma'am, Vice Principal, GCTE.
