JOLLY HOLLIES 2022
Christmas means giving. The father gave his son, the son gave his life and now without giving there is no real Christmas and without sacrifice there is no true worship. Christmas is the festival of joy, hope and love. It is the birth of Jesus. Christmas is a time to reflect on the importance of family, faith and friendship. It is the Christmas in the hearts that put Christmas in the air. As part of celebrating this, Government College of Teacher Education organized the Christmas celebration, Jolly Hollies 2022 on December 22 at the UGC Hall. The program was anchored by Ms. Jessy. M followed by an invocation done by Ms. Maria George. Welcoming, the part and parcel of any program and which gives a proper beginning to an event was done by Ms. Sandya.
Dr. V. K. Santhosh Kumar, the principal and general convenor of the program delivered the presidential address in which he recollected some memories related to Christmas and he wished all the teachers, non-teachers and student teachers a blessed Christmas and joyous 2023 ahead. The representation of the Scene of the nativity or Christmas Crib is a tradition that is almost a thousand years old. In the year 1223 St Francis decided to celebrate the feast of Christmas in a new way. His aim was to help people to better call to mind the poor surroundings in which Jesus was born and to make the wondrous event of the incarnation more real to the people of the time. In the town of Greccio, with the help of a local landowner, a nativity scene was set up with a stable, animals and straw. The first semester B.Ed. students of GCTE prepared the Christmas crib of our college. The legend of Santa Claus can be traced back hundreds of years to a monk called Saint Nicolas. It is believed that he lives in the north pole with his wife where he spends the year making toys to give to children. There he receives letters from children asking for Christmas gifts and on the Christmas eve he loads his sleigh with toys and flies around the world drawn by 8 reindeers. Following the inaugural address, the Santa Clauss of GCTE came with a bag full of gifts, delivered it to everyone and performed an energetic dance before us. As the Santa Claus of GCTE, Ms. Kavya Sagar made a marvelous performance and stole everyone's hearts, and a rain of clap thundered the hall. In England, the tradition of Christmas cake began as plum porridge. The Christmas cake today are symbolized as a ritual of Christmas Celebration. The happiness, love and joy the season and that of Jolly Hollies 2022 was unrolled by the cutting of Christmas Cake by the chief guest Fr. Sunil, our principal and Santa Claus. A token of our love was handed over to Fr. Sunil by the principal Dr. V.K. Santhosh Kumar.

S, Vice principal of GCTE; Dr. Issac Paul, Associate professor, department of commerce; Manoj Kumar, the superintendent of GCTE; Mr. Praveen Kumar, the chairman of the college union, Mr. Vishnu. G, M.Ed. student and Ms. Smitha G Nair, the research scholar.
