PHASE 2 - DAY 7
On 20-06-2024, Thursday, 7th period I engaged 9C students. From the very begining of the class itself, teacher was careful as to maintain the seriousness of the class. The learners insisted the teacher to do another activity lesson which the teacher promised to do later. I was able to give an easy start to the lesson 'Dreams Realised' by Mahadev Desai. Since the chapter was a mix of history and political science, the teacher gave a detailed introduction to convey those day ideas to the children. Teacher was very happy when she asked them the scaffolding questions which they answered fluently and as a group. Mass answering is still the nature of the class. Though they were very much comfortable with the teacher the inhibition and fear of speaking up alone in the clas has not diminished. The introduction was executed as preplanned. Since the idea of Word of the Day activity was a success, the teacher chose the word "exploitation" for the same.
I began with my first intervention related to the experimental study which I was conducting. As a means of analysing the effectiveness of information transfer practice to improve the writing skill of the students, the teacher gave them a simple web diagram on the topic "Newspaper". Teacher identified that though many student had a clear idea of what to be written, they lacked the way in which it can be simply and beautifully written. Teacher gave guided practice regarding how to brainstorm ideas, if it is not given; how to create and expand topic sentence, how to divide paragraphs and finally how to conclude it. beautifully. Aishwarya J S presented her version of the discourse with the help of the teacher. I also encouraged the learners to put small steps. Though they were reluctant they agreed to make the teacher happy.
