PHASE 2 - DAY 29

On 24-07-2024, Wednesday, 3 hour I engaged IXC students with the poem Success' by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. To the surprise of the teacher, only a very few students wrote the expansion of the proverb Rome was not built in a day'. Teacher made Nithya read and found it be excellent. But when enquired she answered that she simply copied it from the internet. Teacher understood that the learner's initiative to develop their own skills is very low, as they focus more on mugging up notes and getting good marks.

I continued the 3rd and 4th stanzas of the poem. I also used the poem to tell the learners the importance of doing homeworks. After recollecting their previous knowledge, I continued the the lines. I found this poem easy to teach as the theme is Basily, relatable to the learners. The difficult words were famdiarised with the help of images. I chose the word 'uprear as the word of the day. Since the learners were familiar with imagery, it was easy for mo to teach them.

Today was the last day of my intervention module related to my project to improve the witing skill. I chose the web- diagram giving clues regarding how to achieve success. Since the topic was easily sclatable, I encouraged the learners to construct small paragraphs. I also found that some students really count the number of clues and create one sentence from each and this really made the teachu disappointed. After the allotted Hime I gave guided practice. Overall the session went good with the co-operation of the learners.
