PHASE 2 - DAY 26


On 18-07-2024, Thursday, and hour, I engaged 9C students. Shiba teacher came to observe my class. Since my lesson plans in 9C got over, I decided to repeat a lesson plan and I chose the introductory session of the chapter "The Toilet". I was not much tensed. The learners responded well to the initial slides. Teacher used a chart to display the comprehension questions and this was a change from the earlia classes. New words were also familiarised with the help of an image and videos. Nithya and Aiswarya did the loud reading. Since the class was already taken  
teacher changed the activity at the end of the lesson plan. To engage the learnors more into the lesson, the teacher decided to give the events in the chapter in jumbled form and asked them to auange it chronologically this group activity created much die- cussion in the class and some benches found it difficult to arrange and the teacher helped them by geving clues. The class went good with the co-operation of the learners. I was also able to manage the time as I envisioned.

During the 7th hour, I engaged C again with a grammar lesson in concept attainment model. Since this model gives more importance to students, the learners showed much interest but they were very reluctant to answer. They very much were very afraid to answer before the class. Poornima and Nithya even asked the permission of the teacher to imitate and enact the words in the chart. They discussed ingroups about the similarities and difference But the teacher understood that some students were not involving themselves in group discussions. Even though the learners wrote small definitions, it was full of grammatical errors The teacher realised that though they were able to realise some sort of differences the learners were not able to comprehend the exact idea. The concept was entirely new to the learners. I found that even though the leamers were new to the concept they were unknowingly using it many time. In the third phase, learners told the teacher that they misunderstood the examples as singular and plural. Cverall the dryness of taking a grammar class was visibly evident. The learners also made a good attempt.
