PHASE 2 - DAY 24

On 15-01-2024, Monday, I was able to continue with A Shipwrecked Sailor' in 8B. Though the learners were interested in the story, they expressed that it was quite difficult to understand on their own and the words were also hard lõ remember. The teacher promised to find an alternative for this. Many students eagerly wanted to know the story and they even asked questions to me, but they insisted me to speak in Malayalam

ges were full of new words Since the passages teacher gave repeated reading and even made them repeat each sentence after me. This made the learners some what confident. I also gave them pronunciation drills for the new words they encounter. Teacher chose the word 'desolate as the Word of the day. I took enough time for loud reading. and word study as I felt it very eserths to teach such a difficult lesson. The learners were able to answer all the comprehension questions to the surprise of the teacher. Since there are so many characters in the story, teacher promied to make a picture chart of the people in the story. Even though I persuaded them to answer the questions individuall they were reluctant to do so. The activity of constructing word pyramid was done creatively by the learners.

During the 5th hour, I engaged 9A students as instructed by my teacher- in-charge. I dictated them the notes of the chapter "Nothing twice". The teacher was happy when she taught them alli- teration and assonance as it gave her an opportunity to familiarise the learners with phonetics a little bit. The day went good
