PHASE 2 - DAY 23
On 12-07-2024, Friday, 3rd hour, I was able to conduct the diagnostic test for 9C students. After correcting their achievement test answer sheets the teacher understood that many students failed to construct grammatically correct sentence in present continuous and past continuous tenses. Moreover the teacher also realised their confusion regarding the correct use of auzilary verbs. After the completion of the diagnostic test, learners were given time for completing their activity charts.
During the 4th hour, I engaged 8 B students and we began a new chapter from unit 2 titled "A Shipwrecked Sailor The introductory session was done in an interesting way and the learners shared their preferred mode of transport A great excitement and enthusiasm was displayed by the learners when the teacher asked them about Titanic and Rose and Jack Even though the teacher succeeded in creating a smooth transition into the story, the Leamen found the chapter quite difficult. Almost all the words were new to the learners and the teacher had to give the malayalam equivalent of all the words. Learners were able to answer the comprehension questions with proper scaffoldingDuring the loud reading, I Identified the pronunciation and reading style of Yasodha as excellent. Reya and Manasa also read the passages. The discourse of preparing news paper reports about the shipwreck was done in an outstanding way. The teacher never expected such a Buccess in an activity that was a bit difficult. Overall the class went good.
