PHASE 2- DAY 16

On 03-07-2024, Wednesday, 3rd hour, I was able to discuss paragraphs 3 and 4 of the story "The Toilet" with 9 C students. Teacher found that the fear and inhibition of the learners to answer wrongly as a group has declined when she heard them wrongly pronunce the name of the writer. Even though pronunciation drill was given the previous day, learners were no better than yesterday. So the teacher gave them repeated practice. I also chose the word 'alternative' as the word of the day.

During the comprehension session, teacher made them respond in the target language itself. Though they liked the story and understood the passages, they did not bother to respond in the target language So the teache allowed them to discuss in groups. Learners showed their resentment when the teacher randomly called their names. Nithya answered the question individually and the teacher appreciated her for the same. During the loud reading teacher identified Lavanya to be slow in reading and the teachu gave her repeated reading drills which shaved a little improvement. I also assigned a helper friend for her to improve her LSRW skills.

Moday, was my 4th intervention in 9 C. Teacher was able to understand their gradual progress. Even though the students take this activity light heartedly, they never fail to co-operate with the teacher I realised that the familiarity of the deainees with the topic "Barriers of Effective Communication" was commendable. After the guided practice, teacher corrected their grammatical errors. I came in teams with the fact that though the content in their paragraphs showed an improvement, their grammatical errors was a matter of grave concern.
