PHASE 2 - DAY 12

On 27-06-2024, Thursday, second hour I engaged 9C students. I was able to introduce Past continuous tense with the help of advance organiser model. Teacher was very confident in her lesson plan, charts and powerpoint slides. Learners understood that there was some kind of difference in the pedagogy of the teacher. Though there was an air of confusion, the learners were able to identify the verb and nouns. The teacher understood that many students lack the knowledge about what a tense is and how many divisions and subdivisions it had. Some students had a clear idea about present continuous tense.

Teacher decided to learn more about the usages of tenes as she found it difficult to explain the usage of present continuous tense to some students. Though I was very familiar with the content, the effective transaction of the same was somewhat difficult for the teacher. However, the teacher was very happy when the learners answered all the questions. The activity card created a comic relief in the class when the learners shouted the answers. The teacher was also able to get a deep satisfaction when Sneha, Nithya and Arafa appreciated the chart making and chart writing skill of the teacher.

In the second phase of the model, when the teacher told the learners that past continuous tense can be learned from present continuous tense, they reacted with surprise Learners also found the usages of past continuous a bit confusing. Teacher realised that she should work more on such lessons though I was in a hurry to complete the lesson plan, the teacher was sure that the learners got an idea.
