PHASE 2- DAY 1

On 12/06/2024, Tuesday the second phase of teaching practice began and I was assigned CMGHSS, Poojappura, the same school in which I did my first phase of teaching practice. I reached the school at 9 15 am. Since it was the first day we faced some difficulty in getting a proper place to sit. During the second hour, the HM gave us a classroom and we found ourselves comfortable there. We are a total of 10 trainees in this school. Myself from English, Chinju from Hindi, Aswathy and Mahima from Mathematics, Sandya and Anupama from physical science, Anakha and Devika from Sanskrit, and Sudheera and Remya from Social science. 

I was not much tensed as I was familiar with the school surroundings and the students. Many students greeted me, came running over to me, enquired my wellbeing and expressed their happiness. This was something very warm and welcoming. 

During the 3rd hour, I went to 9 C since the teacher in charge Ms. Nimmy instructed me to observe her class. I was able to understand that even though the class 9 textbook changed recently she was handling it with such an easeness and fluency. With the help of powerpoint slides, she familiarised the students with the 3 units in the part 1 textbook. She then began the first chapter from unit 1 titled "Half a day". I was also surprised to see many students responding to the questions raised by the teacher. This inturn gave me hope. I was also able to analyse the growth of the students both mentally and intellectually from 8C to 9C. After the class myself and Nimmy tr had an informal conversation and we made a comparison between the old and new 9th standard  english textbooks. She finally summarised the things I have to do in 9C. The first day went by without creating much troubles.

As part of the B.Ed curriculum, the second year B.Ed students of GCTE went for a field trip on 26 September 2023. This field trip was included in the community based practical programme of the second semester syllabus. The purpose of the field trip is usually for observation for education, non-experimental research or to provide students with experiences outside their everyday activities. The department of English, Hindi, Tamil, Social Science and Sanskrit decided to go to Neyyar Dam, Kottoor Elephant Rehabilitation Centre and Koyikal palace. As part of celebrating the world cup the Physical Education department of GCTE organised a Prediction C ontest on 25 November 2022 . All teaching and non teaching staffs, students of first and second year B.Ed actively participated in the contest.  Participants were asked to predict the four semi finalist teams, two finalist teams and the winning team of Qatar 2022 World cup. On January 25, National Voters Day is observed to commemorate the founding day of the Election Commission of India, which was created in 1950.
