PHASE 1- DAY 36



On 12-12-2023, Tuesday, 2nd hour, I had a session with VIII C students. I was able to discuss the figure of speech metaphor with the help of "Advance organiser Model". By using the model, teacher decided to give simile as the organiser, as many students know what a simile is. Another reason for teacher choosing simile as the organiser because she had taught them simile in the earlier classes. Teacher was confident in using this model since she had practiced it earlier. Teacher was able to follow all the steps involved in the method. Most of the students heard about metaphors but was unaware the same. So, the teacher decided to give it as the learning task.

The task of teaching them the simile was really easy and it went smooth. Students participated in the exercises both individually and collectively. The charts, pictures and videos used by the teacher to refresh simile interested the learners. Students showed a bit confused when the teacher introduced metaphor, but this was easily cleared by the teacher with the help of examples and mother tongue equivalents. Students actively responded to the questions, and they even generated the similarities and differences between both simile and metaphor. Teacher was able to complete the model within the time and was happy with the response of the students.  Though the model was based on constructivism teacher was constantly supporting them and gave all the necessary scaffoldings. The class went good with the participation of all the students.
