PHASE 1 - DAY 21
On 22-11-2023, Wednesday, 1st hour, I engaged 8C students we started a new chapter "The Merchant Venice" by William Shakespeare. After the introduction about friendship, teacher introduced and familiarised Shakespeare through a chart. Students showed much interest in the chart and the way the teacher prepared it. They even enquired about the same and this made the teacher happy. Even though the teacher read the passage two times as usual; when asked to say the difficult words, Sreya said that she was unable to read the word. Teacher understood the importance of repetition of words and phrases to build more connections and retain the concept in their mind. Teacher identified that though there was a significant increase in the number of students who responded, some students were still in an isolated state created themselves. In the activity session teacher asked them to write the quality and adventure they would like to have with their best friend this generated much noise in the class. They were shouting the names of their best friends. Teacher was able to manage the class. Another problem, teacher identified with 8 c children, particularly in the activity session is that either they will reproduce the example given by the teacher or they will copy from their friends. So, in this class teacher took enough measures to prevent both these practices. But to the surprise of the teacher, Sabarna, who is very weak in studies copied the new words written in the whiteboard for the activity. The teacher also didn't notice it initially as there was a rush in the class to stick their writings on the activity chart. The class went good with the participation of students.
