PHASE 1- DAY 20



On 21-11-2023, Tuesday, third period, I got substitution in 8 C. With the permission of the Headmistress, I took them to the IT lab and then instructed them to open the adjective game in the Turtle diary website. I helped them play the game. I identified that many children who used to be very silent and passive in the classroom were very active in this class. Teacher found that only 2 or 3 students were unable to distinguish a noun from a verb. Teacher decided to give them a partner to help them. After the introductory session of identifying the adjectives, teacher gave them an idea of comparatives, different types of comparatives and the formation of comparatives. Though the teacher lectured for 5 minutes, the students were very attentive. Teacher understood that online language games are far innovative and interesting way to teach grammar. Many students who earlier lacked the ability to distinguish between noun and adjective, were now able to easily identify both. The leaners showed a kind of restlessness as they were eagerly waiting for the next online game.  Teacher then instructed them to take practice of the degrees of comparison. Following the instruction of the teacher the learners started to do the Comparatives Game in Games to Learn English. Teacher then gave them a start time and promised to reward those students whose computer screen showed the highest score at the end of 5 minutes this generated much interest in the class. Teacher was very much satisfied with the way she familiarized Degrees of Comparison. At the end of 5-minute Nithya and Swathy scored 4598 marks and the teacher promised to give them chocolates. Teacher also identified that since the online game itself allowed for remedial measures, it saved the teacher's efforts and only those who made a question wrong are again given a chance this was a new experience for both the teacher and the students, and the teacher decided to engage the students to more such IT lab sessions if time and situation allows.
