PHASE 1 - Day 7

On 01-11-2023, Wednesday, I had first hour with 8 C students. But I lost this hour due to Kerala Piravi Day celebration. In the third hour, the teacher got substitution in 8C and we continued our discussion on the chapter "A Day in the Country". The students were very receptive. I found the students ready to learn. Since 8C classroom was very small. I could easily connect with all the students. I found Poornima to be very active and enthusiastic. She always enquired about one thing or the other. On that day she also tried to find out the meaning of a word through random guessing. The teacher then made the whole class aware about the significance of using and finding contextual meaning and how it is useful in their study habit. Teacher found two students really strange- Swathy, who is the most studious and class topper, is reluctant to answer any question asked by the teacher. Even if the teacher asked the question calling her name, it was left unanswered. But she always creatively did all the activities. Another student Aishwarya, who is also a bright student seemed to be very reluctant in interacting in the classroom discussions.

I was happy and satisfied with the activities and their growth. But the participation of everyone was diverse. Now, the students started to answer the comprehension session and they voluntarily did the loud reading. Teacher was now able to realise the truth about 8C, that out of 36 students only 6 students can be considered above average, and the rest were either average, below average or very poor. I found the class satisfying as I was able to complete my lesson plan. The use of flash cards for word study made the learners much interested. I also made them do a dictation of the previous lesson we completed.
