PHASE 1 - Day 5
On 13-10-2023, Friday, fifth hour, I could continue my session on Jungle Air Crash with IX A students. Many students were inattentive and engaged in their own activities when the teacher entered the class. The teacher made them aware of the decorum that need to be followed. I understood that many students lacked the habit of studying regularly home. Throughout this week, I was at dissatisfied with the way I took classes for IX A students I was able to realize how the institutional pressure can hinder a teacher from practicing gather the pedagogies. I was able to gather the insight that rather than projecting pictures and following students to find meaning, demonstration will be more useful and productive. Teacher also decided to give more drills and activities in November to improve their language immersion. From the responses of the class the teacher also decided to start a "Fun with English" session and all students who are interested to improve their English will be a member. During the comprehension session teacher found the student's interest in finding answers to the questions. So, the teacher decided to include more comprehension questions as it also ensured more learner involvement. I was able to complete the chapter "Jungle Air Crash."
From the experience on this day, the student teacher strongly decided to improve her pedagogies to suit the learners. Teacher envisioned many programs to improve their LSRW skills and "Fun with English" is one such initiative. The teacher was happy to do this as she realised students were truly interested to learn. Teacher decided to start this in the month of November, after her second semester B.Ed. degree examinations.
