PHASE 1 - Day 13

On 10-11-2023, Friday, 1st hour, I continued the discussion on the chapter "A Day in the Country" with  8 B students. There were only 12 students in the class and the teacher found it very easy to connect it with all the students. During the loud reading session teacher found wrong pronunciations among students and corrected it.

In the 4th hour, I engaged 9B students and we were able to complete the chapter "The Jungle Air Crash". Teacher found the students much disappointed as the teacher failed to explain the success story of Shahrukhan which she promised before many days. Teacher decided to present a YouTube video of the same as a surprise at the end of the class. Teacher was able to see the surprise in many faces and was happy to hear the applause they made at the end of the video. The session went good with the participation of the students.

In the 5th hour, I familiarised the students of IX A with the use of prepositions using direct Instruction Model. Teacher took sentences from the chapter "The Jungle Air Crash" and presented them the idea. Teacher found the learners initially confused but this was slowly reduced when I presented them examples using pictures in the powerpoint.  Teacher was then satisfied when she checked their understanding of the same. Nithya and Aadithya Prakash was able to find all the answers to the questions even in the structured practice. In guided practice I found the improvement that the students were showing. Teacher evaluated the answers of some students and she understood that the learners were much interested in studying grammar. Due to time constrain teacher gave the questions in the independent practice phase as homework.

As part of the B.Ed curriculum, the second year B.Ed students of GCTE went for a field trip on 26 September 2023. This field trip was included in the community based practical programme of the second semester syllabus. The purpose of the field trip is usually for observation for education, non-experimental research or to provide students with experiences outside their everyday activities. As part of celebrating the world cup the Physical Education department of GCTE organised a Prediction C ontest on 25 November 2022 . All teaching and non teaching staffs, students of first and second year B.Ed actively participated in the contest.  Participants were asked to predict the four semi finalist teams, two finalist teams and the winning team of Qatar 2022 World cup. On January 25, National Voters Day is observed to commemorate the founding day of the Election Commission of India, which was created in 1950.
