PHASE 1- Day 12

On 9-11-2023, Thursday, 1st hour I was able to conduct an activity lesson for 9A students. It was based on the poem "On Killing a Tree" Though the students showed some kind of resentment when the teacher divided them into groups, they whole heartedly participated in the work assigned by the teacher. The students were much thrilled when the teacher distributed charts. Teacher identified their familiarity in the preparation of a poster and gave them all the necessary suggestions for the same. While preparing the poster against deforestation, the teacher appreciated their drawing skills. I understood how such classes can expand and transcend the scope of the content beyond the limits of the textbook. After the allotted time, four groups presented their posters in the class. Since I got substitution for the next hour in 9A, I made them do another activity of making placard. Since the writings on the placard had to be small, and effective, the teacher helped all groups and improved their ideas. The session went interesting with the enthusiastic participation of all the students.

In the 7th hour I engaged 8 C students, and we continued our discussion on the remaining passages of "A Day in the Country". This day, the teacher found some students without textbooks and asked them to share from the elbow partners. But this created noise in the class, but the teacher succeeded in handling the classes. Comprehension was done effectively. Those who knew the answers were raising their hands continuously. Since they are not that proficient, the teacher explained some questions to them. Everyone actively engaged in the session.

As part of the B.Ed curriculum, the second year B.Ed students of GCTE went for a field trip on 26 September 2023. This field trip was included in the community based practical programme of the second semester syllabus. The purpose of the field trip is usually for observation for education, non-experimental research or to provide students with experiences outside their everyday activities. The department of English, Hindi, Tamil, Social Science and Sanskrit decided to go to Neyyar Dam, Kottoor Elephant Rehabilitation Centre and Koyikal palace. As part of celebrating the world cup the Physical Education department of GCTE organised a Prediction C ontest on 25 November 2022 . On January 25, National Voters Day is observed to commemorate the founding day of the Election Commission of India, which was created in 1950. The first National Voters Day was observed on January 25, 2011, and ever since then, it has been observed on January 25 with a particular theme. This year will mark the 12th annual National Voters’ Day in 2023.  The National Voters Day 2023 celebration is done by the Indian government as a way to inspire young people to get involved in politics.
