Criticism Class 2
Our college organised criticism class for all students on 21, 22 and 24 of July.
I took one class on 22 nd July. The students from 8 B of Model Boys HSS came to our English classroom. Our English teacher Ms. Sheena and other 5 peers criticised my class.
My first criticism class was not so satisfactory as I felt the lack of proper and genuine hardwork and preparation from my part. I took 3 paragraphs of the lesson The Day in the Country by Anton Chekhov. Moreover the lack of real students was also another problem I faced. I was really nervous and I identified the word study session was not at all properly done. Because of being stressed I followed all steps and ended it up very quickly which led to fewer explanations on the passages under study.
So I decided to put all my efforts in te second criticism. But this time the meal needed to be served was entirely different. It was Grammar and that too using Models of Teaching, on which I had pretty a little knowledge. I was assigned to take Advance Organiser model and this was really a herculean task for me. After so much searching, I decided to teach Continuous tense for students. I refered many acclaimed grammar books, learned all concepts and rules about it. I also studied the structure of the model, wrote the lesson plans and prepared the teaching aids (ppt and charts). FOR THE FIRST TIME I FELT THE PROCESS REALLY SATISFYING... Though there were many sleepless nights I can't express how happy I was when I did each and every step as I envisioned.
I believe that I was able to take the class to my level best but due to time constrains I was in a bit hurry to complete the lesson plan. Iwas able to manage the students and some of them responded pretty well. My friends appreciated my chart writing skill and everyone said that the class was good. Theh also pointed to the areas that need improvement and the points I missed out. Even though I was a bit tensed about the nature of the students, it went well. O was totally satisfied and felt a kind of real self improvement.
