As part of B.Ed curriculum, the first semester  B.Ed students had to undergo SUPW Workshop. Our college organised 2 sessions on Lotion making, Detergent powder making, Dish wash powder making and soap making on 24 th and 25 th of February. The first day session began at 2: 15 in the afternoon. Praveen, the chairman of the college union delivered welcome to the resource persons were Sukumaran Sir and Ummar Sir. Dr. V. K. Santhosh Kumar, principal inaugurated the workshop and expressed his views on the program.

Ummar sir and Sukumaran sir gave an idea on Gandian ideology and philosophy.  Mahatma Gandhi's idea was to give skills and knowledge in craft to students from 8th standard and goes on until the students have reached the 12th standard. It is for both production of work and for developing intellect of the pupils. This idea was later taken forward by the Kothari Commission (1964–66), which suggested the introduction of 'work experience' in education. Subsequently, after the recommendations of 'Ishwarbhai Patel Committee' (July, 1977), which first coined the term 'Socially Useful Productive Work' or SUPW, the subject was first introduced to the school curriculum in 1978, by Ministry of Education, Government of India.

In the first class we were given instructions how to prepare lotion, detergent powder and dish wash powder. The instructors made us familiar about the chemicals used. They also gave us advice on how to market these products. On the whole the first session was very useful.
