SCHOOL INDUCTION DAY 5: AN UNEVENTFUL ENDING!
On the fifth and the final day of the school induction programme we reached the Govt GHSS, Peroorkada at 9:10 am. Since it was Monday the general assembly was conducted at the school auditorium. The entire assembly was organised by the students of 6 C and it began with prayer by a group of students. This was followed by the rendition of the National pledge. After this, the daily news was read out by Anakha and she included almost all the main headlines of the day. Every year Januray 9 is celebrated as Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and in connection with this the special program was the presentation of some posters on the theme of 'Pravasi Divas' by Riya. This was followed by a short informative speech on the importance of the day by Lekshmi. The assembly also witnessed the first performance of the school band. This was indeed a visual treat for all the students and teachers. The students of the band troop did it with much vigour, zeal and passion. Though the band was initiated last year, today's assembly witnessed their official inauguration. The students of Govt GHSS, Peroorkada also participated in the Kerala School kalolsavam held at Kozhikode. Many students secured A Grade in various events and prizes were distributed in the assembly and this further added colour to the day. The students who won in the competitions held at the school were also given their prizes. This made me go back to my school days where we used to stand hours in the sun to witness the prize distribution ceremony. The assembly came to an end by the singing of the National Anthem. After marking our morning attendance we went to our seats.
Myself and Ms. Kavya Dinesh discussed the changes that had to be made in our lesson plan. Later on, we met the headmistress Ms. Pushpa George, collected some more details about the PTA and Alumni association of the school. The student teachers of GCTE, then clicked a photo with her and informed her that it was our last day. We also met Ms. Kavitha, the English teacher and informed the same.
At noon, we served the mid day meal to all students, teachers, non teaching staff and the B.Ed trainees of St. Thomas and Mar Theophilos training Colleges. After this we also relished the same.
In the afternoon, myself and Kavya collected the photos of the club activities and got opportunity to converse with some teachers of the school. I got an opportunity to witness the shared class taken by my companion student teachers Ms. Kavya Sagar and Ms. Revathy B R of Natural Science Department. The subject they dealt was biology and the topic was "Diffferent type of joints." They made use of charts as teaching aids and drew pictures representing the same on the white board. I felt that the class was interesting. Thus the last day of our school induction program came to an end at 3: 30 pm after the National Anthem.
Memory is the dairy that we all carry about with us. It was a journey which taught me many things. Since the school we chose was small with no proper functioning and where everything exsist only in names, we were not able get much exposure to the school environment. This was indeed a lesson that will always be marked in red. It was with mixed emotions that I left the school. There are some students whom I know, there are some I love and there are some I treasure. There were some instances, people and their attitude that made me think, laugh, hate and love even more. But I personally believe that this school was not worthy enough to be given for school induction.
